Sharing is caring!

I love this ship!  With lots of changes in store, I can’t wait to see if the Amplified Allure of the Seas arriving in Barcelona, May 2020, will still be my “ship to beat.”

Have you sailed on the Allure of the Seas?  Part of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class ships, she is one of the largest cruise ships in the world.   We had the pleasure of sailing on Allure in both 2018 and 2019 and cannot wait to try her again after the amplification.  If you’re familiar with this ship, you’ll want to note that while many things are changing, many favorites are sticking around.

UPDATE:  DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ROYAL CARIBBEAN HAS PLACED THIS ROYAL AMPLIFICATION ON HOLD. However, please read ahead and get excited for the future changes and PIN for future cruise planning!

In the following post, I’ll share an overview of the soon to be added attractions, their location, and a few that will be saying goodbye to the Allure of the Seas.

There is quite a list of new attractions and venues added for the Amplified Allure of the Seas, so I’ll break it down into Adventure and Activities, Food Venues/Bars and Other Hotspots.

Adventure and Activities

Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea, will now be visible on the very identifiable aft of the Oasis Class ships.  All in fun, I am a little bummed about this one.  I liked being able to tell that a particular ship was Symphony of the Seas when it had the Ultimate Abyss peaking through the open aft. Sidebar:  I am SUCH a huge fan of Royal Caribbean, but their descriptions crack me up!  “Tallest slide at sea.”  Do they have a lot of competition in this area? 😉

The Perfect Storm – a trio of waterslides Typhoon, Cyclone, and Supercell – Oooh Supercell.  I just blogged about the Amplified updates to Explorer of the Seas, and her Perfect Storm will be a duo instead of a trio.

The Reimagined Pool deck will offer resort-style, varied seating, including daybeds, cabanas, and hammocks. When you get thirsty, grab your poolside drinks at the new, colorful and lively, multi-level bar, The Lime & Coconut. I can see the posts now about the “reserved” deck chairs!

Glow-in-the-dark laser tag – Clash for the Crystal City and the Royal Escape Room – Apollo 18: Lunar Landing.  These attractions have proved popular on other ships, so you’ll want to be sure and reserve your session.

New and Updated for the Kiddos

Splashaway Bay – This tot-friendly water zone is perfect for your littles. They can safely navigate the shallow waters and cool off in style with new water features and play areas.

The New Adventure Ocean, which will offer climbable creations at The Play Space and hands-on art, science, and tech projects at The Workshop.  They can spend some of that extra energy with friendly competition at The Arena or relax with new friends at The Hangout.

Teens will also have their own “secret” entrance to the exclusive teen lounge full of music, movies, video games, and more…not to mention a new outdoor deck area! Do you think they’ll let this 40-something sneak in to check it out?  Yeah, I didn’t think so. 🙁

Not to be left out are the  (AO) Babies for babies and tots and AO Junior for kiddos between 3-5.  New programming and activities are in store for them, as well!

New Food Venues and Bars

Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar – Still located in Central Park, this revised venue will be more casual and have a Sunday family dinner vibe.  I have to say that I’m surprised that this wasn’t converted to Jamie’s Italian, but I am excited to try this new updated version from the Royal Caribbean classic Giovanni’s.

Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade – This sports fan’s dream takes up a huge space on The Boardwalk and will replace Sabor, the ice cream shop, and Pets at Sea. It will feature sports bar favorites such as burgers and wings and be game central with 52 tv screens.  At least I won’t have a hard time finding my husband.

Portside BBQ – As a Kansas City native, I’ll need to check this out and see how they rate. This new venue will be located on deck 15 between the sports pool and Sand Dunes mini golf. You guessed it, on the port side. 😉

El Loco Fresh – Featuring casual Mexican street fare and will also be located on deck 15 near the teen area, and it appears that we will be saying goodbye to the Wipe Out Cafe.

I enjoyed the Wipe Out Cafe because it was a quick place to grab breakfast or lunch without the crowd.  But, I am happy to replace it with Mexican food!  I’m also curious to see how it will compare to Carnival’s Blue Iguana Cantina.

Sugar Beach – This sweet shop remains on The Boardwalk and will offer over 200 varieties of candy and ice cream. Don’t worry, vacation calories don’t count!

Bionic Bar by Makr Shakr – As cool as it is to receive your cocktail from a bionic arm, I’m a little sad to see the Champagne and Martini bar fade off into the sunset.  Ahh, the Martini Bar. However, for those of you who like to ride in style while sipping your cocktail, Rising Tides remains.

Additional Hot Spots

The Music Hall, which is a fan favorite from the Quantum Class Ships is coming!  This new venue will house a revolving list of entertainment, including cover bands!  The Music Hall replaces the current space for Dazzles.

Spotlight Karaoke – This dedicated karaoke bar will offer both a main stage and private room so you can feel free to belt out “Come Sail Away” after a few cocktails at the Spotlight Karaoke Bar.

And, for those lucky to have enough sailings under your belt, the Diamond Club is moving to deck 4 in the current location of Comedy Live.

And…there you have it.

The scoop on the soon-to-be Royal Amplified Allure of the Seas!

Allure is currently cruising the Caribbean. She will make her way to Dry Dock and arrive refreshed in Barcelona in May of 2020, where she will be sailing around the Meditteranean in style!  Following her European adventure, Allure will head back to Florida to her home port of Miami for the winter season.
