Relaxing All Inclusive Beach Day Pass – Nachi Cocom Beach Club in Cozumel

Sharing is caring!

Your cruise is booked, and now you are planning your port day activities.  If Cozumel, Mexico, is on your itinerary you will soon see that there are SO many great options available.  If a super relaxing beach day is on your wish list, I think I have just the spot for you, a day pass at Nachi Cocom Beach Club.

We sailed recently with our extended family and had a group ranging in age from 16-72! While that is a blessing, it also comes with some challenges.  How do you please a teenage girl and two sets of grandparents?

You take them to the beach!

But, which one?  As a family, we previously visited Chankanaab Park which had a little something for everyone.  Our son was with us on that trip, and he and his buddy had a great time on the zip line. The girls in our group loved the Manatees and Brian and his Dad…well, they enjoyed the pool bar.

There are other excellent beach day options in Cozumel as well such as Paradise Beach, Mr. Sanchos and Playa Mia.  However, for this particular group, and considering our port intensive itinerary, I wanted something a little more “chill.”

So, I booked our reservations online with Nachi Cocom.

Worrier’s Guide – A Day pass at Nachi Cocom Beach Resort- What you need to know.

  • Book your reservation online and pay a deposit. Bring your confirmation email with you to the resort.
  • Taxi from the Pier to Nachi Cocom Beach Resort (details below)
  • Greeted and a souvenir photo is taken of your group.  It’s a fun one!
  • A member of your group completes check-in by submitting final payment and is given an overview of the facilities. An adult (16+) is currently $55, $39 (12-15 years), $19 for guest aged 4-11 and under 3 years of age are free.
  • Wrist bands are handed out, and your group is escorted to choose a personal spot on the beach.
  • Enjoy drinks, food, pool and beach activities until it’s time to head back to the ship
  • When you’re ready to leave, make your way back to the front.  A staff member will offer you your souvenir photo (to purchase) and secure your taxi return to the ship.

Transportation to Nachi Cocom Beach Resort

The taxi ride from the International Pier is only about 10-15 minutes depending on the ease of getting out of the port area, etc.  It’s an easy drive.  What’s not easy is paying the fee.  Rates are set and based on destination and number of passengers.  You pay a rate for 1-4 people or 5-8 people.  Our price for 6 was $34, one way!  And a 10-15% tip is considered polite for the service.  I planned ahead of time, so I knew what our cost would be,  but at the end of the day, we spent $80+ just getting your group to and from your day at the beach. Ouch! ** You will need cash for the taxi.  Credit cards are not accepted

I wish I knew of a local bus like in St. Maarten or St. Thomas.

Tip:  Price may vary based on your arrival pier.  There are three cruise piers in Cozumel – Punta Langosta located near downtown San Miguel and used by Disney, MSC, and some Norwegian Cruise ships.  There is also the International Pier used by Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and some Norwegian ships and located about 3 miles from San Miguel.  Finally, the Puerto Maya pier, located 5 miles outside of town and services the Carnival, Princess and Holland America ships.

Here are 8 Reasons to Choose A Day Pass at Nachi Cocom Beach Club for your Cruise Port Day in Cozumel.

Peaceful and Relaxing

Don’t get me wrong; it’s not “boring” quiet…it’s peaceful quiet. There is music up by the pool, but it’s not blaring, and people aren’t yelling “Shot, Shot, Shot, Shot” (like at The Boatyard in Barbados). Party beaches can be a blast but know your travel companions and plan accordingly.

A long stretch of beach

If your idea of relaxation is walking along a sandy shore, listening to waves and soaking in the sun, a day pass at Nachi Cocom Beach Club may be for you!  While there are vendors who will ask you if you want to have a massage or go for a banana boat ride, they are not aggressive. If you aren’t interested, a simple, “No Thank you” works well.  But, hey, why not indulge in a romantic massage with your favorite cruise companion?  Direction Sign at Nachi Cocom Beach Club

Plenty of shade

When you are traveling with a group, setting up a “home base” at the beach is essential.  You want to have an area that everyone can hang out, keep their belongings, etc.  Immediately after check-in, they escorted us to the beach where we could select from any available beach loungers under a shady palapa.

There is plenty of available shade at Nachi Cocom.   The restaurant palapa was also a shady spot!

Pool

I’m a huge beach bum.  I could spend hours upon hours at the beach, but I do appreciate a pool option.  During our visit to Nachi Cocom, there was a bit of a seaweed issue on the beach.  While we enjoyed walking along the beach and seeing the beautiful water we appreciated having a large pool to enjoy as well.Image of pool at Nachi Cocom Beach Club

Swim up bar at Nachi Cocom Beach Club

Did you catch that, I said a swim up bar!  Right next to the large hot tub located at one end of the pool is a nice bar.  Nothing says vacation like enjoying a refreshing cocktail in the pool.

Wifi

I like to unplug and unwind as much as the rest of you but having access to the internet has just become part of our norm.  And when you don’t have it…things can get a little volatile.  Like…if you have teenagers.

Please Lord, tell me you have Wifi because I cannot deal with the panic that will ensue if my teens can snapchat!  Don’t panic, it’s included.

Guacamole!

Ok, they have a lot more than guacamole…but I’m not sure I needed any more than that!  I do love guacamole!

The menu was full of options.  All of the food was quite good, and the service was superb. You will not go hungry here, and yes, everything is included in your day pass fee.Image of Restaurant Palapa at Nachi Cocom Cozumel

A limited number of Guests

Quite possibly the most compelling reason to choose a day pass at Nachi Cocom beach club over other available beach clubs is their limited guest number.  As cruise fans, we are accustomed to being among crowds.  Most tours and port areas are crowded, it’s just part of it.  So, this was a pleasant surprise.

Our group agreed that it was so lovely to have an uncrowded, relaxed, fun experience for the day.  I wish that I would have asked what their guest total was for the day because it certainly didn’t feel like there were close 100 people there.  (I’m not sure they would have told me).  But, even at full capacity, I don’t think it would have felt nearly as crowded as most of the typical tourist beaches.

Worrier’s Guide – Things you may worry about

  • Yes, the facilities are clean
  • Good value $55 per person  – includes food, alcohol, beach chairs, umbrella, pool.  Water sports and spa services available for an extra fee.

  • Family-friendly (reduced pricing for those 15 and younger)
  • Souvenir photo – available for purchase upon exit $13

  1. I think this is one of the best mapped out explanations of a day pass beach resort. From the time you book till the time you get back on the ship, you have it all covered. Anyone looking for a beach day would be all set after reading your post.
Although laying on a beach soaking up the rays and the tropical waters does sound perfect, our family prefers not to. Don’t get us wrong, we love beaches but when we are on a cruise and are in port we like to explore what that islands have to offer, whether it is history, culinary or an active excursion. I just can’t see my self sending money to lay on a beach. (I guess that’s why we are cruisers instead of resort people) We do take advantage of free beaches sometimes if we have nothing planned or still have time after an excursion. I like it when a cruise line visits one of their private islands, or a tour stops stops off at a beach for a little taste.

    1. Thank you, Jessica! I guess that’s the great thing about cruising, everyone can choose how they want to spend their time. I completely agree about exploring new places. I love that, too! When planning, I strive for a balance. We enjoy a beach day about once per trip. We enjoy the beach and it sets the stage for relaxation for us. But, it’s typically only in ports we have been to before. For this particular trip with extended family, the all-inclusive option just made it super easy for everyone and we loved that it wasn’t super crowded.
When you go exploring, make sure you share in the Facebook group. I’d love to hear all about your adventures. 🙂 Jill
